2018 SOUTH COACHES

Sindee Snow / Co-Director

A graduate and three-year letter winner at Florida Southern from 1980-82, Snow earned second team All-Sunshine State Conference honors, while helping lead the Moccasins to a 48-8 record and the SSC Championship. A fixture within the Orlando volleyball community, Snow has been Co-Director of the Orlando Volleyball Academy and helped found the organization in 1996. 

Prior to OVA, Orlando volleyball was a small blip in the grand scheme of club volleyball.  Since the inaugural season, which had seven teams, OVA has grown into one of the elite club volleyball programs and has over 20 teams.  OVA has achieved a record that is unparallel in the state of Florida. Since 1996, the club has had more than 125 student-athletes attend college on volleyball scholarships. With 22 AAU All-Americans, five USA Volleyball All-Americans and three Fab 50 players, Orlando is often revered as one of the elite volleyball locations. During that time she has served as head coach of several club and junior national teams. Her team finished ranked third-nationally in 1998, 12th in 1999, and second in 2001.  Three of her teams have finished as the national runner-up.

Yvonne Devlin / Co-Director

Yvonne graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. While there, she participated in three National Championships in volleyball and two softball National Tournaments. Yvonne was voted MVP and nominated to the Metro Hall of Fame for outstanding contribution to athletic competition.  She played USABA volleyball for six years, and has officiated NAGWS, NCAA, and USVBA volleyball for 25 years.

In 1996, she founded Orlando Volleyball Academy and has served as Tournament Director for the National Amateur Athletic Union and the Sunshine State Games. In 1999, Yvonne was the tournament director for the National Senior games held at Disney's Wide World of Sports for volleyball and badminton. Her work over the past several years in hosting girls' junior tournaments earned her the Best Tournament Host Award for the Florida Region in 2007.

 

Yvonne has been very active in building youth and adult volleyball in the Florida, serving as the commissioner for USA Volleyball Florida Region from 2001-2005 and the Junior Region Coordinator for girls volleyball from 2005-2008. Recently, Yvonne led her 13 Asics team to two National Championships (AAU and USAV)  in 2011.

Angel Ayala

Angel grew up in Puerto Rico where he was the volleyball player in a baseball household.  He started playing volleyball at the age of 12 and continued on through high school.  After graduating, Angel received a scholarship to play at Newbury College in Boston where he excelled as a middle blocker for the Nighthawks. He graduated in 2012 with a degree in Criminal Justice.  Angel has been with OTVA since October of 2015.

Samantha Burton

Graduated from lake Brantley High School where she played all four years. She played her freshman year at Webber International University. She coached the 5th and 6th grade team at ICS. This is her first year coaching at OTVA where she coaches the Friday night league and the 13 Regional Red team.

Caitlin Chacon

Coach Caitlin played volleyball all through middle and high school and specialized as a defensive specialist/Libero. She played recreationally at UCF. Once she graduated from UCF, she was hired at Wildwood Middle High School where she taught reading and coached high school volleyball. A year later, she moved to Hunter's Creek Middle School where she would continue teaching reading and became the assistant volleyball coach for 2 years. She took over as head coach her third year at the school and since then her team keeps progressing. They went from a team that didn’t qualify for playoffs to one of the top competitors in the county. This past season, the team went undefeated and were Cluster Champions for the second year in a row, and they made it to the elite eight in the playoffs. Coach Caitlin couldn't be more excited to continue growing as a coach at OTVA and is very excited to start her journey here.

Gabriel Colon

Gabriel Colón has been playing volleyball for 14 years. He started

playing volleyball at the age of 8. Gabriel had the opportunity to

play with the Puerto Rican Youth National Team, at an early age.

After playing with the youth national team for 2 years, Gabriel

played in the Boys Junior Olympics with his club team. Gabriel

attended the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus,

where he played outside on their men’s team, making it to the

finals one year. After college Gabriel started coaching with

Guaynabo Mets having much success. Now, here in Orlando, he

is excited to continue his coaching career with OTVA.

Tito de Leon

Tito played professional volleyball in Puerto Rico for 19 years and 8 years for the national team (World volleyball games 1977, Pan American games ’79, Norceca Tournaments ’77 (beating the USA for the first time in history), and Central American Games.

He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor's Degree in Education where he played 4 years winning 3 championships and was selected for the World Universities Game National Team.

Tito served as UCF assistant coach 1998 to 2000, winning conference 2 years and making it to the NCAA Div I 2nd round. He has also coached at the University of Puerto Rico and the high school level. Tito has coached college, club, high school and professional teams for 30 years and has also refereed all national divisions for more than 25 years. He comes to OTVA with a wealth of knowledge and experience. 

Carmelo "Melito" Eleutiza

Carmelo “Melito” Eleutiza was the former Head Volleyball & Softball Coach at Bluefield State College in West Virginia (NCAA Women’s Division II). Eleutiza brings over 25 years of coaching experience at the club and high school level along with the professional league in Puerto Rico. Carmelo started playing volleyball at the age of seven, and eventually played at the collegiate level with the Interamericana University in his homeland of Puerto Rico. He comes with a strong volleyball background including five U.S.A.V Junior Olympic in the 12U & 14U girls division with Arsel Volleyball Club and taking third place in the boy’s 16U Division at the Junior Olympic in Phoenix, AZ. Carmelo was the former head coach for the City of Toa Baja, P.R semi-professional volleyball team, where his team earned a 53-16 record in his first two years and an undefeated season in his third year along with claiming the semi- professional league championship. He then moved on to the professional ranks where he was an assistant coach for the Captains of Arecibo and Llaneras of Toa Baja in the Puerto Rico Girls Professional Volleyball League. Carmelo established Champions Volleyball Club in 2006 to 2008; was the Co-Director for Top Select Volleyball Academy and the Director for ARSEL Volleyball club in Puerto Rico. He returns to Orlando Volleyball Academy were he coached for two years and his 13U team took 5th place at the AAU National Championships and earned a bid to the Junior Olympics. Carmelo “Melito” Eleutiza holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education Teaching from Bayamon Central University of Puerto Rico.

Danny Eleutiza

Danny started playing volleyball at the age of 10. His passion for the game came early and at 14 Danny led his team to the Puerto Rico Club National Championship. He served as the setter and team captain. When Danny was 16 he played for Arsel Eagles team and finished 1st in 16 Open at the Boys Junior Nationals. Also during that year, Danny's high school team won the National Championship Tournament and he was selected to the All-American Team. He went to play college at the Universidad Del Sagrado Corazon in Puerto Rico.  While there his team won the National Championship for college teams in Puerto Rico.
 

Danny started to coach volleyball at the age of 14 for his club Arsel Eagles. By the age of 18, Danny had won four Puerto Rico national tournaments in the 14U club division. On 3 of those seasons, his team went undefeated. Danny led his 12 Open team to an AAU National Championships. He also won the USAV Junior Nationals for girls with his 14's team in the open division. He also won went on to win every national tournament that his team played in Puerto Rico, including the championship for the 16's age group. Danny also served as the assistant coach for semi-pro team in his home town Toa Baja. The year that he was assistant, the team was the national champion of the Puerto Rican league. After only one year, he took over the team as the head coach and the team made it all the way to the semi-finals. Danny finished his coaching in Puerto Rico when he went to Junior Nationals with his 15's team and got the 3rd place in the 15 Open division.

 

In 2008 Danny coached at the Orlando Volleyball Academy where in the first year, he took his Molten team to the USAV Junior Nationals finishing in 5th place. In 2010, he coached the OVA 14 Asics and the team went on to finish in the top 10 for the USAV Junior Nationals. In 2011, his 14 Asics team won the Big South Qualifier and the Show Me Qualifier and also finished 3rd place in the Open division. In 2010, Danny was named the Outstanding Junior’s Coach by the Florida Region. He also served as the Varsity Head Coach at Winter Springs High School and led the team to the FHSAA State Finals. Danny was also the head coach for Foundation Academy in Winter Garden. The team was runner-up in 2A in the years 2012 and 2013. He is currently the Head Coach at Dr. Phillips High School.

 

In 2016 his OT 17 Asics Red took second place at the AAU Nationals in 17 Open. He is currently the camp director for the South Location at OTVA, and also the tournament coordinator for the club.

Stephanie Gibson

Stephanie Gibson says her mission is to teach young athletes to love the sport of volleyball, build self esteem and confidence in young women, and use their volleyball experiences to manufacture their life skills.  Coach Gibson is currently a Physical Education Teacher, and Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Winter Park High School.  She has been the varsity coach at Winter Park High School (2000-Present) and Miami Sunset (1989-1999).  In 30 years of coaching, Gibson has compiled a career record of 697-164. Gibson’s teams advanced to the FHSAA Regional playoffs in 25 of 27 seasons. Her teams have won 18 conference titles, 20 District Titles, 12 Regional titles, 2 State Runners Up, and 9 State Championship Titles (6 as a head coach).  Coach Gibson has been named Florida Dairy Farmer Coach of the Year in 1995, 2004, 2005, and 2013. She has been selected to coach the FACA State All-Star Game, and has been named Metro-Conference Coach of the year 9 times.  Gibson was a NHSACA National Finalist for Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2014.  In 1989, she took over as the director of the South Florida Volleyball Club, and held that position for twelve years. Currently she is a travel team coach with OTVA.  Her club teams have qualified for the Junior National Tournament 14 times. Her 2009 and 2010 teams won back to back AAU National Championship titles for 14’s and 15’s. In addition to her coaching experience, Gibson also played on the collegiate level in two sports.  Coach Gibson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Florida International University, while competing on the Volleyball and Softball Teams.  She is a CAP I certified volleyball coach.  Gibson has served seven terms with the FHSAA Volleyball Advisory Committee.

Lindsay Giddings

Lindsay is a graduate of Bishop Moore High School, where she played volleyball all four years. She went on to play middle at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She has also been coaching for the Orlando Gold for the past two seasons. This is Lindsay's third with OTVA. In 2017, her 11 Red team finished 3rd at the AAU Nationals and won the USAV National Championship for the 11 division.

Alfredo Giraud

Alfredo Giraud began playing volleyball at an early age and went to play in high school and Club in 

Puerto Rico. He played as a Middle Hitter/Blocker and Outside Hitter.  He then went into coaching youth/club volleyball for boys and girls. Alfredo has a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. Alfredo has two daughters playing for OTVA and one son playing for Orlando Gold. Alfredo has been coaching at OTVA during the Mini-club Season and has coached 11’s, 14’s & 15’s Teams during Club Season. Alfredo is looking forward to continue teaching athletes the sport of volleyball.

Eric Gonzalez

Eric Joel Gonzalez Bocanegra was born March 18, 1973 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. His hometown is Moca, a small town on the West side of the island. At the age of 17 he was signed by his hometown volleyball professional team “Moca Vampiros”. He developed as a setter and played in Puerto Rico professional volleyball leagues for 14 seasons. He played for 5 different teams: Vampiros Moca, Caciques Mayaguez, Gigantes Adjuntas, Playeros San Juan and 2000 National Champions, Rebeldes Moca. He studied Elementary Education in the University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo and become an Elementary School teacher.  As a coach, Eric started coaching his hometown junior team Rebeldes Moca and won 3 National Championships in a row. In 2000, he was invited to the Puerto Rico Volleyball Federation to be part of the Volleyball National Program. His first international competition was as assistant coach with the Men’s Junior National Team in the 2002 NORCECA Championships in British Columbia, Canada. Others International Tournaments that Eric participated in as assistant coach are: 2006 Men’s Youth NORCECA Championship, Dominican Republic; 2007 Men’s Youth World Championship, Mexico; 2008 USA Volleyball High Performance Tournament, Arizona; 2008 Men’s Junior NORCECA Championship, El Salvador; 2009 USA Volleyball High Performance Tournament, Fort Lauderdale; 2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Tournament, Wisconsin; 2010 Women’s Junior National NORCECA Championship, Mexico.

In 2010 Eric was named head coach of the Puerto Rico Women’s Youth National Team. He participated in the 2010 Women’s Youth NORCECA Championship, Guatemala; 2011 Pan-American Cup, Mexico and qualified the team to the 2011 Women’s Youth World Championship. In 2011 he participated in the Women’s Youth World Championship in Ankara, Turkey. He finished with the Puerto Rico National Teams with the Men’s Junior NORCECA Championship in 2014.

Eric worked for different teams in the Puerto Rico Men’s and Woman’s Volleyball Professional Leagues: Divas Aguadilla (head coach), Gigantes Carolina (assistant coach), Cariduros Fajardo (assistant coach), Orientales Humacao (assistant coach), Valencianas Juncos (assistant coach).

Eric Joel Gonzalez Bocanegra is an FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball) certified coach. In 2006 he was certified as FIVB Volleyball Coach Level I and in 2011 he was certified as FIVB Volleyball Coach Level II achieving the best score in the class after a successful completion of the technical and practical conditions established by the International Coaching Commission.

Yarmeliz Gonzalez

Yarmeliz (Meli) is originally from Puerto Rico where she learned the fundamentals of volleyball.  She played in the Volleyball Federation of Puerto Rico for 3 years.  In 2001 she moved to New York City where she played volleyball in high school and won the PSAL (Public School Athletic League) Heisman as the best volleyball player in New York City. During her time in the city, Meli also played for Creole volleyball club for 3 years.  Due to her skill level she was also chosen to represent New York City at the Empire State Games. After graduating high school she was offered scholarships to different division I and II universities such as St. John’s University, University of Connecticut and Post University. While attending Post University she played as an outside hitter and libero. A few years later Meli moved to Florida where she is now following her passion. 

Olivia Groody

Olivia has been playing volleyball since she was 13 years old. She played both volleyball and basketball in high school at St Thomas Aquinas High school located in South Florida. From there she then decided  to accept a scholarship to continue to play volleyball in college at Palm Beach State college in West Palm Beach where she played Outside hitter and defensive specialist. 

 

While she studied and played in West Palm she also was a club volleyball coach for Palm Beach Juniors. When she began coaching she learned how much passion she had for the game and truly enjoyed developing athletes into better players and helping them understand the game. With her background in Psychology she truly enjoys teaching the mentality aspect of the game to each player that is needed to compete successfully on this court. 


Olivia in her time away from coaching is also the Office Manager for the North location. She has been a club coach for volleyball for the past six years. This will be her fourth year here at OVA North.

Josh Hebron

Josh began coaching at OT in 2009 and has worked his way to becoming one of the top assistants in the club. He has been the OT 16 Asics Red assistant for the last three years, helping his teams to qualify for the USA Junior National Championships. Josh has also assisted them to bronze medal finishes at AAU Nationals (18 Club, 2015 and 16 Open, 2014). 

 

In 2016, Josh helped OT 16 Asics Red to first place finishes at the Show Me Qualifier and JVA World Challenge, as well as second place finishes at the Disney Qualifier and Big South. Josh also had the opportunity to help OT 18 Asics Red at the USA Junior National Championships, where they finished third in 18 USA. He also helped to train and assist OT 14 Asics Red, who were crowned both the AAU and USAV 14 Open National Champions. 

 

Josh also serves as the Varsity assistant and JV head coach, under his mentor Stephanie Gibson, at Winter Park HS. He has helped the program to a State Championship in 2013, as well as runner-up finishes in 2012 and 2009. Though no longer coaching in the boys program at WP, he was an assistant for 7 years finishing his tenure with 4 district championships and a Final Four finish in 2012. 

Rubier Hernandez

Rubier Hernandez-Cordero graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus in 2003, 

with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education.  He played volleyball since he was in High School and 

began coaching private middle school volleyball teams in 2005.  He has over 12 years of experience with 

volleyball teams in different leagues, including but not limited to the Catholic Athletic League and the 

Puerto Rico Federation Volleyball League.  He is certified as a Volleyball Coach for levels 1, 2 and mini-volley with the PR Technical Commission of Coaches.  With his continued development, certifications and additional trainings, his teams have reached Championship and Sub Championship at school and region levels.

Felix Hou

25 years of coaching experience. Coached  the University of Maryland - 4 times ACC Champion. Coached University of Miami, University of Pittsburgh, FIU and Iceland University. Coached a  professional team in Asia and Europe, FIVB Volleyball Instructor. 7 years Chinese national team player.  Played World Cup, World Championship and qualified for the 1980 Olympics.

Tanya Jarvis

Tanya has been a member of OVA as a player and then coach for the past 19 years. She finished her eighth season as head coach for her alma mater Bishop Moore Catholic and has compiled a record of 211-38.  The hornets finished their 2015 season as the 5A State Champions and Tanya was named the 5A Coach of the year.  In 2012 and 2013 seasons they were back to back 4A /5A State Champions.  In 2013, Tanya was the Orange County Coach of the Year and the AVCA Florida Region 4 Coach of the Year.  In 2012, the hornets finished with a national ranking of 1st according to Maxpreps and 9th by Prepvolleyball.com.  Tanya was the Maxpreps National Coach of the Year and Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year for the state of Florida. Tanya served three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for the Rollins College Tars, 2010-2012.

 

Tanya was a member of the Florida Region Professional Women’s team The Florida Wave from 2012-2014 and was the Assistant coach for the Wave in 2015. She served as member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Girls' Volleyball Advisory Committee from 2009-2012. In 2011 Tanya received the Orlando Volleyball Academy's Female Coach of the Year award. Tanya was an assistant coach for the Bishop Moore Boys undefeated State Champions in 2010. Along with assisting Winter Park High School in 2005 and captured the Class 5A State Championship, she also assisted with the Florida Region Juniors High Performance Program that year.  

 

Prior to her coaching stints, Tanya was a standout athlete at the University of Central Florida where she was a four-year starter for the Knights.  She made three NCAA tournament appearances (2001-03) and holds four top-10 records in kills (9th / 1,039), aces per game (8th / 0.31), total attempts (8th / 2,936), and digs (10th / 891).  In her first season with the Knights, Tanya was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team and in 2004 she was an Atlantic Sun Second Team member. Tanya played on both 1999 and 2000 Bishop Moore State Championship Teams under the direction of Sindee Snow. In 2001 Tanya and her partner Hannah Roberts placed 3rd at the USAV beach volleyball national championships. Tanya graduated from The University of Central Florida in 2005 with a bachelor's of science in liberal studies and a minor in criminal justice.

Madison Krumm

Graduated from Lake Brantley High School and played all four years. She helped coach the 5the and 6th grade team at ICS. This is her first year coaching at OTVA, she coaches the Friday night league and assists the 12 regional Red team.

Kevin Lopez

Kevin Lopez has been involved playing and coaching sports for 8 years. He started out playing for different volleyball clubs in Puerto Rico as a right side, outside and middle blocker. He has a scholarship throughout middle school and high school at "Academia La Milagrosa". Once Kevin moved to Florida, he played at Olympia HS and Cypress Creek HS. Lopez also excelled as an Orlando Gold player, winning an AAU National Championship and being selected for the HP Florida Team in 2013. This is Kevin's fifth year coaching at OTVA.

Jenn Mallard

I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. I moved to Richmond, Virginia for high school and played at Godwin High School and Richmond Volleyball Club (RVC). I was an outside hitter in college at UNC Wilmington from 2008-2012. I was the captain of the team for two years and was ranked for aces per match with my jump serve. I was named all tournament team at the Wake Forest Invitational. I am currently the head coach at Winter Springs High School. I have been coaching for 5 years. 

Meghan Mora

Meghan is attending Freedom High School and at the same time is working on her

Associates degree in business management through Valencia college in the dual

enrollment program while holding two jobs and participating in weight lifting

program at Freedom where she is now won metrics and is going to regionals and

district. Meghan has been a participating member of OTVA for the past 4 years in

both club and beach program. She has placed 1 st and 2nd in beach USAV/AAU

hosted tournaments. During club season for the past two years she has been an

assistant coach to 14U teams. She also assisted Hunters Creek Middle school and

Freedom Girls volleyball program. Meghan has been trained by some of OTVA

best coaches.

Aleksey Natalevich

Aleksey played volleyball at the midle school in Siberia, Russia. Since high school he has been doing Track & Field. While running for his university as a professional athlete, Aleksey played for his faculty on the university volleyball tournaments and has been practicing with a professional volleyball team from his university. In the last few years before moving from Russia, Aleksey has been coaching volleyball at the high school with kids from 14 to 18 years old.

Hung Nguyen

Hung has a strong passion for volleyball and renewed this passion for coaching when his two daughters, Catlinh and Catthi fell in love with the sport. Hung coached girls’ club volleyball for the last 2 years at local clubs and recently, he assisted coach Ricardo at BRAVO academy and coached their U14 National team to multiple tournament 1st place wins including a 5th place finish at the AAU Regional and won a free entry into the 2017 AAU National where the team finished 3rd place in the Classic division.  While coaching at another local club, MBS, he coached the U13 and U14 National team and achieved several first-place finishes and improved their AES regional ranking from 61st to 12th. He is proud that a 100% of the girls he coached made their middle school and high school teams. Hung also participated in both Florida HP and Nation HP tryouts as the HP court coach.

This is Hung’s 1st year at OTVA.  He’s coaching the mini-club U13 and is part of the training team staff and will coach the U13 Navy and assisting with the U15 White.

Kelly Palma

Kelly joins us from Stamford, CT and is entering her fourth season of coaching club volleyball. Previously, she coached 17s for two seasons at Chelsea Piers Athletic Club and 15s for one season at Digs in Northern New Jersey. She also served as an Assistant Coach at Montclair State University where she helped to lead the team to the most single season wins in program history during the 2014 season. While at Montclair she earned her Masters in Exercise Science with a concentration in Coaching and Sports Administration. As a player, Palma was a three time Big East All-Academic Team member at Seton Hall University. She graduated with her BS in Biology while at SHU. Currently she works at the University of Central Florida serving as the Assistant Volunteer Coach, Assistant Director of Volleyball Operations, and Camp Director for the women’s volleyball team. This is Kelly’s first season with OTVA.

Roberto Santasofia

Entering his 13th season, Roberto began playing volleyball at the age of 12 where he quickly excelled at the sport. At age 15 he signed his first professional contract with Papel Report Suzano - one of the best professional clubs in Brazil where he served as a Libero. While there his team won 2 National Championships.

 

Roberto has a well versed knowledge of the game having played volleyball for 11 years, eight of which he competed professionally.

A handful of Roberto’s players have earned scholarships to some of the country’s best Universities: Princeton University, Columbia University, Florida State University, Harvard University, University of Kentucky, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Villanova University, University of Denver, University of Boston, Florida Atlantic, High Point University, Rollins College, University of Florida, University of South Florida.

Mila Serrano

Mila was born in Oakland, California and raised in New London, Connecticut.  During her freshman year of High School her family moved to Orlando, Florida.  She played volleyball, basketball, and softball at Lake Howell High School.  As a freshman, she was the starting setter on the varsity team.  It didn’t take long for her to realize her love for the game of volleyball.  As a sophomore, at Lake Howell, she was recognized with the “Most Accomplished Athlete.”  Mila continued her athletic career at Lyman High School where she graduated from and received a full scholarship at Seminole State College in Sanford, Florida.

 

Mila began her career as a UPS driver for twenty two years.  Since then she has retired and focused all of her time and energy towards instructing and developing young adults and children of all ages to help them learn the game of volleyball.  She instills good habits and a passion for the game.

 

Mila has held the position of Head Coach with several clubs in the Orlando area.  She also served as the assistant coach at Orangewood High School for 7 years leading them to the State Runner-Up in 2003 and State Champions in 2005 and 2006. She comes with 20 years of coaching club volleyball along with 15 years of high school coaching experience.  

Ashley Schinzing

Ashley has a well-rounded, diversified background in volleyball with experience as a coach, administrator, referee, and as a player.  In 2010, she was promoted from Assistant Director of Orlando Gold Boys Volleyball to a Director of the club.  Ashley has coached five years for Gold, and three years for OVA.   Her coaching experience also includes four years at Olympia High School coaching in both the boys' and girls' program.  She has also coached volleyball camps including: Rollins College, UCF,  TFA Varsity Camps, and OVA Camps.   In addition to coaching, Ashley was recruited while playing for OVA as an outside hitter for Mississippi College as Outside Hitter, Libero.  Her collegiate awards include Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP for leading her team as an outside.  In high school, Ashley was co-captain and outside hitter on The First Academy Varsity Team and had the honor of playing on the winning Senior All-Star Champion Team for Orange County.  In 2008, she had the proud honor of coaching her Orlando Gold 14's Team to the Gold Medal at  AAU Nationals. 

Jose Seary

Jose Seary enjoyed playing multiple sports in high school.  He has been involved 22 years doing Track & Field and 19 years in volleyball. Jose was an international athlete representing Puerto Rico in multiple international events.  He started playing indoor volleyball and beach volleyball in his freshman year of high school and has been playing and coaching ever since. In 1992, he began coaching both high school and club volleyball in Puerto Rico.  Seary has coached all levels of high school volleyball for for one of the best high school volleyball teams in Puerto Rico.  He has had 17 years of experience coaching girls and boys ages 6-18 in youth volleyball. Jose also coached for a Division II college in Puerto Rico for 6 Years, winning 2 championships. Seary is very proud to be working with OTVA.

Tom Snodgrass

Tom has been a coach for OTVA for the past 9 years.  Tom graduated from Bishop Moore Catholic High School where he now assists the girls program and is the boys’ varsity head coach.  Tom played volleyball at the collegiate level for Webber University.  During his coaching career Tom has won six State Championships, 3 AAU Boys National Championships, a 2nd place finish in the 2016 USAV Boys 16 club division and a top 10 finish in USAV Boy’s Junior National Open Division.  For the past five years Tom has coached for the Team Florida High Performance program.  This past July his team took home the bronze medal in the Boys Regional Youth Division.

Viviana Perez Thon

Coach Viviana Pérez Thon is a certified teacher and a volleyball coach from Puerto

Rico. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s

Degree in Elementary Education. Coach Viviana coached and taught in Puerto Rico

(Dorado Academy and Colegio Marista) for five years. Last year’s club season she

coached in ST7 Volleyball Club. Presently, she is working as a Spanish teacher and

volleyball coach at First Academy Leesburg.

Coach Viviana has been involved in her volleyball career for over 20 years as both

an accomplished athlete and a coach. She started playing volleyball in Puerto Rico

at the age of six and has continued to play and coach in Puerto Rico and Florida

ever since. Coach Viviana was granted a full sport scholarship through her college

years. Being an outstanding student and an athlete, her courtside accomplishments

include:

  • Winning the AAU Nationals Tournament at age 12.

  • Traveling to Tampa, Atlanta, and Houston at age 14 and 15 playing in the

  • Qualifiers for the Junior Olympics and the Junior Olympics (Championship at age 15).

  • Playing in Japan and China for the 2005, 9 th FIVB Girls’ 18U World Volleyball Championship as part of the Puerto Rico National Team.

  • Receiving a volleyball scholarship to play at Miami Dade College.

  • Receiving a volleyball scholarship to play at University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón from 2006-2011.

  • Playing for Puerto Rico’s Women’s Pro-Team, Vaqueras de Bayamón from 2011-2012.

Kim Vach

Graduated from Barron G. Collier in 1983 and went on to play Div. 1 Volleyball at Stetson University all four years. After graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, she started her teaching and coaching career in Orlando, Florida. She is currently at Winter Springs High School and has been to the Florida Volleyball State Finals six times, has four Regional Titles, Twelve District Titles, and has won the Seminole Athletic Conference five times. She has coached for OVA since the inaugural season. Kim has won the AAU National Championships in 2012 and 2013.

Luis Vazquez

Raised in a big volleyball family, Luis Vazquez started playing volleyball at the age of six in his hometown of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, where he played club and high school for 12 years. Luis started coaching volleyball at the age of 18, when he co-founded and directed the Bayamon Volleyball Club, which offered specialized volleyball clinics, training and camps for underprivileged boys and girls. While coaching volleyball, Luis graduated from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. After graduating, he went on to work as a High School P.E. Teacher, Assistant Athletic Director, Health Teacher, and Head Volleyball Coach for 4 years. In 2013, he graduated from the Metropolitan University (UMET) with a Master’s degree in Leisure Service Administration. In 2014, he decided to take his career to the State of Florida, where he started working for the Orlando Volleyball Academy. Luis is currently the Athletic Director and Middle School PE Teacher for Orange County Preparatory Academy, while he gets ready for his second year coaching at OVA/TBVA.

TJ Wilson

TJ Wilson has been with OVA, now OTVA, since 2002 as an elite coach. His 14 Asics team won the 2013 AAU National Championship in the 14U Open Division.   He was also the Assistant Coach of three State Championship Teams at  Winter Park High School during his tenure from 2002-2008, as well as the Head Coach for the Junior Varsity and Freshman teams. TJ played volleyball for Edgewater High School as a defensive specialist and outside hitter. He also has 15 years of experience as a competitive baseball player. TJ is also the Facility Manager at Orlando Sports Center, where OTVA trains.
