Carmelo "Melito" Eleutiza
Carmelo “Melito” Eleutiza was the former Head Volleyball & Softball Coach at Bluefield State College in West Virginia (NCAA Women’s Division II). Eleutiza brings over 25 years of coaching experience at the club and high school level along with the professional league in Puerto Rico. Carmelo started playing volleyball at the age of seven, and eventually played at the collegiate level with the Interamericana University in his homeland of Puerto Rico. He comes with a strong volleyball background including five U.S.A.V Junior Olympic in the 12U & 14U girls division with Arsel Volleyball Club and taking third place in the boy’s 16U Division at the Junior Olympic in Phoenix, AZ. Carmelo was the former head coach for the City of Toa Baja, P.R semi-professional volleyball team, where his team earned a 53-16 record in his first two years and an undefeated season in his third year along with claiming the semi- professional league championship. He then moved on to the professional ranks where he was an assistant coach for the Captains of Arecibo and Llaneras of Toa Baja in the Puerto Rico Girls Professional Volleyball League. Carmelo established Champions Volleyball Club in 2006 to 2008; was the Co-Director for Top Select Volleyball Academy and the Director for ARSEL Volleyball club in Puerto Rico. He returns to Orlando Volleyball Academy were he coached for two years and his 13U team took 5th place at the AAU National Championships and earned a bid to the Junior Olympics. Carmelo “Melito” Eleutiza holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education Teaching from Bayamon Central University of Puerto Rico.
Olivia Groody
Olivia has been playing volleyball since she was 13 years old. She played both volleyball and basketball in high school at St Thomas Aquinas High school located in South Florida. From there she then decided to accept a scholarship to continue to play volleyball in college at Palm Beach State college in West Palm Beach where she played Outside hitter and defensive specialist.
While she studied and played in West Palm she also was a club volleyball coach for Palm Beach Juniors. When she began coaching she learned how much passion she had for the game and truly enjoyed developing athletes into better players and helping them understand the game. With her background in Psychology she truly enjoys teaching the mentality aspect of the game to each player that is needed to compete successfully on this court.
Olivia in her time away from coaching is also the Office Manager for the North location and the Billing Manager for OTVA. She has been a club coach for volleyball for the past six years. This will be her 5th year here at North as the 14u coach.
Ciara Barone
Ciara has grown up around the sport of volleyball and began playing competitively at age 12. She attended Oviedo High School where she played for three years and helped run summer volleyball camps for middle school students. Although she enjoyed playing in high school, she found her true passion for the sport during the club season. Ciara played at OVA for three years as an outside hitter and one year as a defensive specialist. During her senior year of high school, she coached a team of 8 girls with very little volleyball experience at the Oviedo Rec Center. Ciara helped turn these inexperienced players into a team that could work together to win games and even worked with one girl privately to help her get on a club team. Ciara is currently a senior at UCF studying Political Science and plans to be a teacher after graduation. She played on the UCF Women's Club Volleyball team last year after an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia for the game. While it was exciting playing on the court in a jersey again, she's ready to get back to coaching to help young players develop their skills and build their passion for the game.
Bryan Cobb
Bryan has 15 years of volleyball experience. He played all four years at Oviedo High School and went on to play for the club team at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He served as Club President and player/coach during his sophomore year. He also worked as a manager for the Women’s Division III team at Rose during his sophomore and junior years. Bryan has 5 years of experience coaching youth sports. He has a passion for developing young players’ physical and technical abilities. This is Bryan’s first year at OVA North.
Brandon D'Lima
Brandon grew up in central New Jersey and has found a passion for playing volleyball since he was 13 years old. He played 4 years of varsity volleyball for Marlboro High School where he played both middle and outside hitter. His leadership abilities helped him captain the team since his junior year to the shore conference and state playoffs. He has also played club volleyball for CJVA and was ranked first in his division his senior year. Brandon is currently studying to pursue a career in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida where he continues to play in men's tournaments and competitive leagues. This is Brandon's first year coaching at OVA North and he is more than excited to share his passion for the sport with the players.
Kyle Furlong
Kyle started playing volleyball at the age of 11. He began playing club volleyball for Orlando Gold for a total of four seasons. During club, he placed second at AAU Nationals and qualified for Junior Nationals. He has been on his high school varsity team for the past two years and will start his third this February. Kyle has been volunteering at North for two summers, helping with the camp programs and was involved with mini-club last season. He is looking forward to the upcoming season!
Tiara Hebron
Tiara Hebron, or "Coach T" has been around the volleyball world for most of her life. She played throughout middle school and all four years at Winter Park High School. During those four years, she would manage the boys volleyball team as well. She discovered her love for coaching at a young age when she volunteered at a small private school. Since then, she has had successful seasons coaching at Toreros Volleyball Academy and Winter Park Volleyball Club. She was also thrilled to have been able to coach the freshmen team at Winter Park High School this past season. Coach T is excited for her first season here at OVA/TBVA, but is always more excited to share the love and passion she has for this sport.
Kylie Houston
Kylie is from Ohio where she has been playing volleyball since the age of 10. Moving to Florida her freshman year of high school, she attended Hagerty High School where the volleyball program was still beginning. She helped bring the newly developed team to its first Regional Semifinal in 2012. Throughout her career, she has played indoor club volleyball for 7 years, as well as club beach volleyball where she scored a bid to the 2013 Beach Volleyball Junior Olympics. She currently attends the University of Central Florida as a Pre-Med major. This will be her first year coaching at OVA.
Ashley Johnson
Ashley has been playing volleyball since the 8th grade and later went on to play in high school. Ashley was a varsity middle blocker starter for George Jenkins High School in Lakeland, FL. She played club volleyball during her high school years for the Tampa Bay Sandspurs. After high school, she chose not to pursue a collegiate volleyball career but did join a volleyball club team at the University of South Florida. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A in Communication, and received her MBA Degree from Liberty University. After graduation, Ashley decided that she wanted to share her passion and love for the sport and went directly into coaching. Ashley went on to coach Varsity at Land O’ Lakes High School, in Land O Lakes, FL. Ashley is excited about her first season with OVA/TBVA.
Anthony Larroca
I have been a coaches kid my whole life so as soon as I could walk my parents had me in a gym or on the field. Seeing as how I was always the first one to arrive and the last to leave I have a very dedicated and disciplined work ethic. I got my first taste for coaching when I would help out with younger kids when my parents were coaching. When I first started coaching when I was 15. I was the varsity defense captain for both soccer and volleyball all four years. While playing I received MVP for 09' and 10' as well as Student Athlete of the Year 10'. After coaching youth sports for awhile I coached high school boys for three years and now I have been coaching at OVA for three years.
Tim Love
Tim began playing both beach and indoor volleyball in 1990 and played USAVOLLEYBALL from 1993-2005 as a setter. During the early 2000's Tim directed his focus toward beach volleyball. During that time he played in many Pro-Am Beach Volleyball tournaments throughout the Southeast States and continued to play up until the birth of his daughter.
In 2011 after his daughter expressed an interest in the sport he loved he decided to dedicate his time to coaching her. Tim began coaching youth girls volleyball through the local Oviedo recreational and select leagues and then moved on to a local volleyball club where he stayed for 2 years taking the girls to the AAU nationals in 2015.
This is Tim's first year with OVA and he continues to play locally in his free time when not coaching.
Dang-Khoa Ngyuen
DK started playing volleyball at 13 and continued to play for Lake Mary High School’s varsity team for 2 years as a libero. As a player this will be his 3rd year as a libero for the University of Central Florida as well as competing in numerous beach tournaments in Florida. His coaching experience includes the varsity girls’ teams of Florida Air Academy and Lake Mary High School. He is continuing his education of biomedical sciences and physics in aspirations to become a future surgeon. This will be his second year at OVA.
Shelby Paxton
Shelby was born and raised in Orlando Florida. She has played volleyball for over eight years starting at the age of 10. She began playing for OVA at the age of 13, which began her love for club volleyball. She continued to play club throughout high school, during which she attended The Master’s Academy in Oviedo where she played for the varsity team. Shelby went on to accept a scholarship to Florida College in Tampa where she helped her team win a National Championship. Shelby has also played for UCF’s club team, and is currently studying Health Administration. This is Shelby’s first year coaching at OVA.
Kyle Reid
Kyle started playing volleyball as a freshman at Lyman high school where he played middle for 4 years in Club and for 3 years as a varsity player, during this time he achieved a state title(31-0) in 2013 and state runner-up(28-1) in 2014, and 2 national championships. He Currently attends the University of Central Florida(UCF) with a major in Computer Science and plays club volleyball for UCF and Florida Splash who won USAV men’s nationals in 2016. In 2016 he started coaching at OVA/TBVA as a training league coach and as an assistant for 15 North Elite for AAU Nationals where they won gold in the Classic division. He also coaches at Winter Park High school as a Varsity assistant coach and at Lyman High school as a freshman girls’ assistant coach. He is very excited to start his first season coaching at OVA/TBVA.
Amanda Rey
Amanda Rey from Miami, Florida, has been playing competitive volleyball since she was ten years old. She played seven years of club volleyball with South Florida Volleyball Club and Wildfire Volleyball Club. Amanda attended Mourning Senior High School, where she played four years on the varsity team as a setter and libero. She was team captain in her junior and senior year. In her senior year, Amanda was named to the Miami Herald All County Third Team. She is currently attending the University of Central Florida, majoring in Entertainment Management. Amanda continues her volleyball career playing on the UCF Women’s Club team. Amanda comes from a volleyball family as both older sisters played in high school, with her oldest sister playing in college. Her mother is a successful high school volleyball coach, who has led her boys varsity team to the state tournament for the past four consecutive years. Amanda is very excited about joining OVA/TVA and cannot wait to share her passion and knowledge of this sport.
Tony Sanchez
ony was born in Puerto Rico. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelors in Physical Education. He then continued his education and received a masters in Physical Education at the Inter American University. He has over 30 years of coaching experience at all competitive levels. He coached High School, Club, College and in a Professional league all in his homeland of Puerto Rico.
Throughout his coaching experience he has won 2 gold medals from the USA Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships in 1993 and 1994. As an assistant coach he won the title of Puerto Rico Professional league with he team "Las Chicas de san Juan" also in 1993. In 2003 in recognition of his volleyball coaching success, they dedicated the best high school tournament in Puerto Rico ("El Nuevo Dia") in his honor.
In Puerto Rico everyone calls him "The legend" here at "OVA North" we affectionately call him "Grandpa". Tony is very excited to start out his first year as a coach for OVA and is looking forward to a great season.
Jeff Schneider
Jeff started playing volleyball at the age of 12 but mainly played at Southwest Miami Senior High where he was a part of the 2003 Inaugural boys volleyball state champions. After high school, Jeff quickly began a coaching career at Palmetto Senior High in Miami were he coach until 2009. In 2010 he began coach at Ransom Everglades in Coral Gables and at South Florida Volleyball club. As the 15u National coach, He helped lead a team of wonderful kids to their first USAV nationals in 2011. In 2014, he had the great honor of watching the girls he had coached at Ransom Everglades win their first state title in 24 years. Jeff is currently attending UCF with aspirations of getting a degree in coaching and is very excited for his first experience at OVA/TBVA.
Tawni Small
Tawni Small has been playing volleyball since she was eleven years old. She graduated from Winter Springs High School. She played on Varsity for three years as a middle. During her Senior year, her team went to the State Finals where they finished second in the state. She played at Stetson University her freshman year of college. She is currently at University of Central Florida studying to become a high school Biology teacher. She is currently the Head Coach at Crooms Academy Informational Technology in Sanford. She is the Head Coach for both Men’s and Women’s Volleyball. When she began coaching she found a new love for the game she has always loved. She strives for every athlete to feel the love she has for the sport of volleyball. She has been coaching at OVA for two years.
Daniel Specian
Daniel grew up in a volleyball background and has been passionate about volleyball since he was twelve years old. He played both volleyball and football in high school at Seminole Ridge Community High School, located in West Palm Beach Florida. Daniel continued his love for the game when moving to Orlando, while attending UCF to study Physical Therapy. From there he picked up Beach Volleyball and participates in numerous beach tournaments all around Florida each year. He continues to play indoor for the UCF Mens Club Volleyball Team as a setter and outside hitter. His coaching experience includes The UCF Women’s Club Team. This is Daniel’s first coaching season at OVA North and he is excited to get working with everyone.
Juan Vazquez
Juan has been practicing/playing volleyball since the age of 14 years old. A native from Puerto Rico, Juan has been coaching youth volleyball since 2002. His playing experience includes high school, club and a season of college at the University of Maryland men's club volleyball team. In 2005 he relocated with his family to the state of Florida, where he has coach for local area volleyball clubs for the last 7 years. Juan has a BS in civil engineering. This will be his second year at OVA North.
Mia Vinalon
Mia is from Naples, Florida and has been playing volleyball since her freshman year of high school. She was a middle blocker for four years at Gulf Coast high school. Her school team were state runner-ups her junior year and she was an All-Conference player her senior year. Mia also played for various indoor and sand travel teams throughout high school. She now attends the University of Central Florida pursuing a major in Mathematics. She continues to play volleyball on the UCF Women’s club team and is very excited to work with all the young athletes at OTVA.
Pedro Zayas
Pedro started playing volleyball while studying at Colegio San Ignacio in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He later played outside hitter and was a letter award winner at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. After finishing his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, he returned to PR and worked for a commercial bank for almost seventeen years. His passion for the game rekindled when his kids started playing club volleyball. Eager to help, he became manager and assistant coach to several of his kids’ teams. Coaching has given him a different point of view of the game and since volleyball has modernized from his playing days, he's become a student of the game.
